Global Muslim fertility rates have declined rapidly through a “flight from marriage” by Muslim women, and other causes. Demographer Eberstadt found across 49 Muslim countries fertility rates had declined an average 41% between 1975 – 2010, compared to a 33% decline for the world as a whole. Fertility in Iran declined by 70% to below replacement levels (Australian Prayer Network 1/4/13).
