Against the heretic Prosperity Gospel movement

I would like to hear such a sermon from Hill Song or Lake Wood. If Jesus came to make us better persons, and not mainly to save us from our sin, than we should follow somebody else.

I remember when a Psychiatrist friend of mine told me that Hill Song was their little gold mine, since people cannot sustain the positivism that it is preached there. This guy was a retired minister, and told me that that sort of movement did more long term damage than the short term fix that they offered.

We are more than conquers in Christ, but conquers against sin. Many people who go to those sort of churches, yes, have better cars than me, or houses, whatever, but if they are counting those things as God's blessing, then Steve Jobs was way more blessed than then!!

Well, I leave you the very interesting video.

The perfect pastor, was a dead pastor!!!!! Total Madness

I will post the whole story so you guys can read it, and comment on those parts that are totally, totally amusing.

OZEMAN, Mont. — An associate pastor and church sound man pulled a Weekend-At-Bernie’s-style scheme, keeping their church’s senior pastor in the pulpit six weeks after his unexpected death.“I thought he was going through a personal renewal which mellowed him,” says one member after learning that pastor Lenny Dillon had been dead since July.
Dillon, 57, died of a stroke while vacationing with his wife in Canada. She went along with the scheme because she couldn’t bear to let her husband go.
It “comforted me to see him preaching, even though I knew he was dead,” she says.
I feel sorry for the wife, but give me a break, a dead pastor can preach? The funny thing about this is that it reminds me of some people at the pulpit, which really look and sound dead!! Next time, I will go to front and pinch them to make sure that they are alive, not dead!!

To the trio’s amazement, the church flourished. Rancorous disagreements stopped. People felt ministered to and cared for.
“He seemed so happy all of a sudden,” says one woman. “That peace spread through the congregation.”
Barry and Linda Cox attended several counseling sessions with the dead pastor and said it vastly improved their marriage.
“He was such a good listener,” she says.

There you go. Get a dead pastor so your church can grow!!! And yes, I bet a dead pastor will be way a better listener than me.

Embalmed and dressed in a three-piece suit, Dillon was propped against the pulpit every Sunday. The associate stitched sermons together from past sermon tapes. The sound man turned down the lights. After service the associate and sound man helped Dillon shake hands in the foyer. They put sunglasses on Dillon and made up a story about botched laser eye surgery.Though the ruse has ended, some people in the church want the corpse back.“Best two months this church has ever had,” said one man. •

So, for two months these people were listening to their dead pastor? Apparently they never heard anything before, because if they did, they would have pick up on the past sermons.

People are unbelievable. they want the corpse back???

Sad news if you tell me.

No wonder Perry lost

Sorry, not something against home schoolers, but these guys don't seem to be doing a very good job.

With people like that, it's not a good thing if Perry wins the presidency!!

The worst mom in the world

Some people just shouldn't have kids. If this mother is teaching her 7 year old daughter to have surgery because she in the future may not like her figure, what else is she teaching her.

Good on the people who have shown their outrage at such a thing.

10 Pitfalls of the Foolish Apologist

via: www.apologetics315.com
A Christian ambassador desires to be tactful, persuasive, sensitive, and thoughtful. Being a good apologist and being able to give good reasons for the truth of the Christian view takes prayer, patience, study, and persistence. For those who have made it their goal to become good defenders of the faith, there are certain positive disciplines and character traits that one would do well to develop. These help you become a wise apologist.

But on the other hand, there are certain pitfalls that can appear that, when left unchecked, can become character traits and make you a foolish apologist. Although there are surely more, here are Ten Pitfalls of the Foolish Apologist:
  1. The foolish apologist speaks before listeningProverbs 18:13 says, "He who answers before listening - that is his folly and his shame." Not only does he communicate to others that he could care less about what they have to say, but he also becomes unable to give a well informed answer. The wise apologist is patient, seeks to understand, and avoids monologue.
  2. The foolish apologist overstates his argument. The foolish apologist doesn't have "good reasons." Instead, he can prove it. He can show something beyond the shadow of a doubt. His arguments are presented with all confidence -- and of course he can't be wrong. Even when using good arguments, he exaggerates what they actually show. No modesty here, and people balk. The wise apologist argues confidently, yet with modesty.
  3. The foolish apologist wants to win every point. When the conversation gets complex, he needs to make sure to correct every single error he sees with another person's view. Never mind that his conversation partner is getting offended by his "attention to detail." This apologist is the fallacy police, the fact-checker, and grammarian all-in-one. If he makes an error, back-pedaling is in order, with little or no admission of wrong. The wise apologist can discern what really matters in a conversation.
  4. The foolish apologist chases red herrings. If the topic is the resurrection, just bring up evolution. The foolish apologist will happily hop down any bunny trail that appears. The conversation goes in all directions. He can't make any progress in an argument because he can't spot red herrings, distractions, and non-issues. In fact, he may often enjoy these deviations from focused dialogue, because he's proud of his expertise in his own pet subject areas. The wise apologist knows how to stick to one point.
  5. The foolish apologist is proud of himself. He likes the fact that he knows terms that make the "novices" around him cock their heads. He secretly commends himself for reading more books in a month than most people do in a year. He enjoys the sound of his own voice, and thinks he does a pretty good job in an internet forum. Apologetics is his tool to show the world he can flex his intellectual muscle. He's received his rewardThe wise apologist humbles himself before God, and looks upon himself with sober judgment.
  6. The foolish apologist seeks popularity. He enjoys the accolades of others, speaking to lots of people, being a big name. Name-dropping becomes a normal tool to show others just how connected he is to what's happening in the scene. He doesn't choose the lowly placeThe wise apologist blooms where he is planted.
  7. The foolish apologist neglects spiritual disciplines. He finds reading philosophy more interesting than reading the Bible, so he neglects the Bible. Prayer is seldom and rushed. In fact, prayer, meditation, Bible study, worship and fellowship take the back seat to study. The foolish apologist deceives himself that he is being spiritual, all the while drifting awayThe wise apologist sits at the feet of Jesus.
  8. The foolish apologist has not love. He can speak in the tongues of philosophers and of theologians, but he has not love - he is only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. He has the gift of intellect and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge; his arguments can move mountains, but he has not love - he is nothing. He gives all his time and energy to study, and surrenders his finances to university degrees, but has not love - and has gained nothing. The wise apologist is motivated by love for God and love for others.
  9. The foolish apologist isolates himself from others. He doesn't need their input. He doesn't appreciate correction. He has his own plans, his own agenda, and own personal ministry. He refuses to let iron sharpen iron. When he falls, he has no one to help him up. He's accountable to himself only. The wise apologist surrounds himself with godly counsel and fellow laborers.
  10. The foolish apologist doesn't do apologetics. He becomes an apologetics junkie; a consumer instead of an enlisted soldier. He does more talking about defending the faith than actually defending the faith. Debates are a spectator sport. He forgets that souls are in the balance and doesn't even think of preaching the Gospel. The wise apologist wants to win others to Christ more than anything - and he uses apologetics as a tool to assist in this task.
Have you encountered any of these pitfalls in your own life? This list may serve as a handy reminder or even serve as a list of prayer points for your own development as a better ambassador for Christ.

Reading Calvin through the year

I have made a challenge to myself this year, to read John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion.

I have found many people, mainly young ones, in the internet, that are ardent Calvinists, yet, have never read Calvin.

So, on top of my bible reading, I am challenging me, and you, that we should read Calvin's theology, in order to understand the Reformer better, and not mis-represent him when one is pretending to defend his theology.

Here it is for those interested, and thank you Dr. Jim West for bringing it to my attention.

Looks like guns were a great sell during Christmas in the USA

Americans bought record numbers of guns last month amid an apparent surge in popularity for weapons as Christmas presents.
Wow!!! To celebrate the love of Jesus and one another, what's best to show such love by giving a gun away to a loved one!

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas. It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November. On Dec 23 alone there were 102,222 background checks, making it the second busiest single day for buying guns in history. The actual number of guns bought may have been even higher if individual customers took home more than one each.Explanations for America's surge in gun buying include that it is a response to the stalled economy with people fearing crime waves. Another theory is that buyers are rushing to gun shops because they believe tighter firearms laws will be introduced in the future.
Fearing a crime wave? Well, haven't they thought that many, many of those would be "burglars" are also buying those guns?

And don't give me the mantra "people kill people, not guns", because guns don't sell themselves, people buy them.

Since the near-fatal shooting of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords by a deranged gunman in Tucson, Arizona last January there have been increasing calls for tighter gun control. Miss Giffords survived being shot in the head with a semi-automatic handgun, and six other people were killed.
It doesn't matter how much people are killed, people love to kill other people, regardless of how others use guns.  In the beginning, it was Cain with a rock killing Abel, now, they use guns.
